Building Permits

BUILDINGS

Building permits are required to build any new building or to alter any existing building within the village limits.  Permits are not required to make ordinary repairs, either internal or external, which do not increase the size of the building or alter its condition.  In general, any new building or addition must:

1. be at least three feet from the owner's lot line;
2. maintain the same grade as surrounding lots; and
3. maintain the setback from streets as surrounding buildings. 

FENCES

A building permit is also required to build a fence on a property located within the village limits.  Fences may be in those portions of rear and side yards as shown in chapter 21 Exhibit 21.03(H5) of the Bellflower Municipal Code. 

APPLY FOR A BUILDING PERMIT

The village president issues building permits.  To apply for a building permit, complete the Building Permit Application (click on the form link shown below).  Return the completed form to the village president (see contact information below).
