Village President / Mayor

"The chief executive officer of a village shall be a village president, who may also be called a mayor." (65 ILCS 5/3.1-15-10)

Employment - part time

Term of Office - 4 years; elected at the consolidated election held on the first Tuesday in April of odd-numbered years.

Duties include, but are not limited to:

• Serves as official head of the village for all purposes
• Presides at all village board meetings
• Supervises all non-elected officers and employees of the village
• Participates as an ex officio member of all village boards, committees, and commissions
• Makes all appointments, with the advice and consent of the village board, as may be required by statute or village ordinance
• Signs all contracts and official documents
• Issues all building permits
• Oversees municipal code enforcement
• Oversees website content
• Ensures compliance with all local, county, state, and federal laws
• Responds to citizen concerns
